Discover the power of a #SocialStory
This FREE workshop covers the basics on how to write a Social Story, but more importantly it helps you decide WHEN to use a Social Story, WHY they work and HOW to make them effective.
There will be time to practise a specific Social Story relevant to you. Social stories improves understanding of concepts, skills and situations, and often results in more effective responses.
Story Based Interventions
According to Raising Children Network “Social Stories™ use stories to explain social situations to children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and help them learn socially appropriate behaviour and responses. These stories are sometimes called social narratives or story-based interventions.”
Social Stories can help all children
ECIA Transition to School Resource states “Social stories™ were originally developed by Carol Gray for use with children with autism spectrum disorder. They are now also being used to help other children with a variety of learning delays, as well as with children who are developing typically.”
Bonus: Comic Strip Conversations
Our speech therapist Melinda Rogan is trained to deliver this workshop with the added bonus of a session on Comic Strip Conversations.
Comic Strip Conversations are a fun and simple way to communicate with your child. Learn how to use simple line drawings to talk to children and get more information then ever before.
You don’t have to be an author or an artist for these two techniques to be powerful.
