What is the Early Childhood Early Intervention Approach

If your child aged 0-6 needs support you will visit an Early Childhood Early Intervention  ECEI Provider like Early Connections.

ECEI Providers are the first contact point for families as you start early intervention for your child.

We are one of a number of ECEI Providers in New South Wales who are partners with the NDIS.

The NDIS ECEI Approach will help all children with developmental delay or disability and their families to achieve better long-term outcomes through support services in their local community, regardless of diagnosis.

What is Early Connections role?

The NDIA  engaged Early Connections as an Early Childhood Partner to work with families where a child is identified as needing additional support to meet developmental milestones.

As an Early Childhood Partner, we draw on our specialised early childhood knowledge to give the right support for your child and family.

This includes information, emotional support and specialised early intervention supports.

With an emphasis on inclusion, each child is supported in a range of mainstream settings, such as preschool, play group and other early childhood settings. This gives them an increased opportunity to learn and develop positive social relationships.

Supports are delivered through a family-centred approach, which builds on family and carer strengths in order to improve the child’s developmental trajectory and overall quality of life.

Individualised support to meet your child's needs

  • Connect you and your child with the most appropriate supports in your area, such as the community health centre, educational setting and playgroup.
  • Provide some short term early intervention where it has been identified as the most appropriate support.
  • Help you to request NDIS access if your child requires long term early childhood intervention supports.
  • If your child becomes an NDIS participant, Early Connections will work with you to develop an NDIS plan.
  • Once your child’s NDIS Plan is approved, you will be able to choose a Service Provider(s) to best meet your child and your own needs.

How can I access ECEI services?

If your child has already been granted access to NDIS, Early Connections will receive your child’s details from the NDIA and be in touch to begin early intervention planning.

If your child has not yet been approved for access to the NDIS scheme, you can contact Early Connections in your local area and we will begin the process for you.
