Internationally renowned reading researcher Dr David Kilpatrick recently visited Australia on a National Tour with Learning Difficulties Australia.
Dr Kilpatrick is the author of the excellent Essentials of Assessing, Preventing and Overcoming Reading Difficulties and Equipped for Reading Success.
Port Macquarie Speech Pathologist Mary Cameron attended the Sydney event with Dyslexia Support Mid North Coast Kelly King and Jane Mackenzie, local speech pathologist at Growing Minds.
Surprisingly, the reading research reveals even for irregular words, such as yacht, a reader still uses some phoneme awareness, letter sound knowledge and phonological long-term memory in order to retrieve the word. #LDAKilpatrick pic.twitter.com/Xg59tu3zrM
