Important Update Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) Children Aged 0 – 6
There is no longer NSW government funding from the Dept of Ageing, Disability and Home Care for ECEI.
Early Intervention Service Providers like Early Connections are currently undergoing significant changes in our early childhood intervention sector, as a result of the implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
In partnership with the NDIS, Early Connections has operated as an ECEI Provider and first point of contact for families during the transition to the NDIS.
From the 1st July 2018, Early Connections will no longer act as an ECEI Provider. This means we will no longer provide initial supports to new referrals without funding, NDIS Planning, Planning Reviews and NDIS Access requests.
The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) recently announced the appointment of new Early Childhood Partners to deliver the NDIA’s Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) approach in New South Wales from 1 July 2018.
Early Connections role as a NSW ECEI Transition Provider will finish on 30 June 2018.
From 1 July your new local Early Childhood Partner is The Northcott Society. Information about your nearest Northcott Society office can be found on the NDIS website.
What does this mean for my child? The Northcott Society will be in touch with you to make a time to discuss your child’s needs and appropriate supports and services. We will work with The Northcott Society to support a transition period to their services as required.
Where can I get more information? More information about Early Childhood Partners and the NDIA Early Childhood Early Intervention approach can be found on the NDIS website – www.ndis.gov.au.
Early Connections – here to answer your questions
All NDIS funded children can remain with Early Connections for their service provision.
The Early Connections team will work hard to assist all early childhood education centres, families and key stakeholders to make this transition as smooth as possible.
Early Connections NDIS Services
These changes only affect the referral pathway for new families of children aged 0 – 6. Our services for families who already have NDIS funding can be accessed in the usual way.
